Hello everyone!.  I hope everyone is doing well.

I have some exciting news to share!  It appears from my observations that John & Sandy are expecting!

I’m able to observe their nest from a safe distance and on three separate days this week, Sandy was sitting in the same spot in the nest.  I’m going to go with the assumption that she’s got some eggs.

John is keeping a watchful eye on the nest from nearby trees, making sure Sandy is safe.   I’m sure he’s keeping her well fed with all of her favorite foods.

Bald Eagles take 35 days to hatch.  Not knowing when the eggs were laid, my estimate is that they are due to hatch sometime in the latter part of March.

I was also able to get a few photos of John.  He pretty much stayed close by to the nest making sure that all is well.

One final thing that I would like to share...

While it appears from my images that I am quite close the nest, in reality I am not.   At all times, I ensure that I'm complying with all regulations related to my distance from the nest.  

I took the photo below from with my iphone to give you an idea as to what my eye is actually seeing.

I use a long telephoto lens to be able to take the photo.
